Have any parents out there found a really good video baby monitor? My husband and I are just now TTC but I want to get as much info on good equipment now. I like the idea of a video monitor so that we can make sure our baby doesn’t have anything blocking his/her airway. Any reviews on monitors that you really love or really hate would be appreciated!
In this episode of The Lab, Denise and Alan Fields, authors of “Baby Bargains” join us to tell parents what to look for when buying a baby monitor. They outline a few things to take into consideration, such as security and privacy, possible interference issues with other electronics like cell phones and computers, and the importance of having rechargeable batteries. They also discuss the differences between an audio baby monitor and a video baby monitor. Dads and moms, what kind of baby monitors do you use? Tell us over at DadLabs.com. DadLabs. My parents say the monitors there "in case bad something happens while youre sleeping" However, the also sometimes listen during the day to hear what im doing! I will be 15 this year and i need PRIVACY! Do you guys think that my parents should take the baby monitor out?

I was wondering how often you guys use your baby monitor…
I received one at my baby shower, and I have never used it. In fact, my daughter is 10 weeks old, and the monitor is still in it’s sealed packaging. I am considering returning it, and here’s why…I work 8 hours a day, so she is normally at a sitters for at least 8.5, I am never more than 10 feet from her in the evenings, and we co-sleep, because I breastfeed. Even if we weren’t co-sleeping, she would be in the same room, because I’m a single mom, living with my parents, so only one bedroom for us.
We have had a baby monitor since our child was born. She’s 2 1/2 now and I’m thinking it’s time to give the baby monitor up. How do guys broach this subject with mom and bring about another successful milestone of growth for both baby and parents?
I am interested in strategies to make mom more comfortable without the monitor. No one has touched on that subject yet.
